At the end of the course a student is expected to: describe the organization and operation of a computer processor, primary and secondary memory, peripheral devices and to give computer specifications; explain the representation of data and information in computer systems, use standard word, and, graphics generation packages, use standard database systems. This course presents a conceptual and practical introduction to computer. The course will cover general principles of computer to enhance transferable skills, such as report writing, presentation skill, spreadsheets, database management system, and problem-solving skills. This course introduces hardware, software, processor, database management system, web technology, network which provides solutions to real-world problems. Knowledge of this course may be needed as prerequisite knowledge for future courses.
